As part of the Center's operations and public mandate, staff provide regular community education to numerous provider agencies and other community groups which serves as a primer on Centers for Independent Living encompassing a wide range of service areas and issues impacting persons with disabilities.
Staff routinely engage in disability related service issues around : Housing; Employment, SSD & SSI Benefits ; Medicare & Medicaid; Utility Assistance ; Public Transportation ; Access to Healthcare; Assistive Technology; Community Advocacy & Architectural Barriers; The ADA and various Disability Rights Laws; Student Transition and the Vocational Rehabilitation System ; Youth Transition to Adult Life; Peer Counseling and Support Systems; Personal Budgeting & Finances; Life Skills Development; Emergency Preparedness; Wellness and Nutrition and Community Recreation.
